Meet Bailey, a lovely young woman who's already had a difficult life. All hope for a second chance rests on the generosity of a wealthy family and an experimental drug that turns people into pets. It's unnatural to have relations with an animal, and certainly it's unethical to coerce a pet.

That's why this nifty new drug is so awesome. Bailey isn't an animal. She's a young woman with volition, whose greatest desire is to succeed as a pet.

Meanwhile, Cindy discovers she can walk in dreams. But this dream world is a dark place, filled with taboo secrets about a man in Cindy's house. Yes, that man. The one who raised her. Once a girl learns this kind of taboo secret, nothing else will ever be the same!

And here is Joe Driscoll, an American man on business in Japan. Joe is struggling with Japanese culture. He's struggling with his own limitations. The nice thing about personal limitations is that we're always running into them. That's because they're limits, and they're ours. But, really, it's just another opportunity to improve. The sages tells us to embrace our limits. Joes gets on a packed commuter train, meets an innocent little vixen, and then embraces his own shortcomings...
