About this ebook

Meet Lucy, an independent-minded Canada goose who is hatched in the beautiful northern wilderness. Her first look at the world is filled with sunshine, wild rivers, lakes, and her close and loving family. Along with her brothers and sister, she is taught the value of working together by her patient mother. But Lucy has other ideas. She is certain that fitting in is not for her. Holly Bea's delightful rhyming text coupled with Joe Boddy's brilliantly colorful and playful illustrations make this book a fun way to teach children the enduring value of teamwork.

About the author

Holly Bea was inspired to write her first children's book following the birth of her first niece, Katie. The resulting classic spiritual tale, Where Does God Live?, has touched the heart of tens of thousands of children and their parents. In 2002 the book won the Bock Book Award. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Holly has been an advertising copywriter for agencies in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Silicon Valley, and Tampa. Born in Hawaii and raised in Texas, Holly now lives in Dallas with her husband, Steve, their Sheltie named Lizzie and their goofy Bullmastiff, Buddy. She is the winner of the 2001 Helen Keating Ott Award for outstanding contributions to children's literature from the Church and Synagogue Library Association.

Joe Boddy now lives in Missoula, Montana. He spent much of his youth wandering the willow patches and aspen groves that line a small mountain stream called Sourdough Creek. Growing up, his work included fencing, irrigating, milking, haying, and tending to livestock. Time away from school and chores was filled with hunting, fishing, drawing, and painting. His love of the Bridger Mountains, the Spanish Peaks, and all the wild creatures that inhabit them was only matched by his love of art. While earning his degree in fine art from Montana State University Joe met and married his very talented and lifelong sweetheart, Marlys. As full time professional artists they have worked together to build a home and studio in the foothills of the Bitterroot Mountains where they often quietly watch baby Canada Geese once they are out in the water. As happy grandparents, they are more dedicated than ever to each other, their art, travel, reading, children, and grandchildren.
