Ruth Stoltzfus and Benjamin Miller have known each other all their lives. Growing up in a small Amish community, they are familiar with the customs of their people, including matchmaking. So when Benjamin and Ruth are made to sit beside each other at his sister's wedding, it was no surprise to anyone when sparks begin to fly.
In a blissful state, they make it known to all of their friends that they only have eyes for each other. They spend as much time together as they possibly can, and Ruth finds herself more and more thinking about marriage, and if Ben will ask her.
But trouble begins to brew in their perfect little world when Ruth discovers something about Benjamin that makes her question everything that she had known about their relationship. She wonders if there is any way that her dreams can be salvaged, or if she should prepare herself for a life without him in it.
