2.5 Stars Review by Nancy Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog I love a good erotic romance as much as the next and Good Girls Like It Dirty by Carmen Falcone is definitely erotic. It was a fast paced read with a whole lot of steamy scenes. The story was a bit of a cliche, but it was witty and enjoyable at times. The book starts of with Zaine a recently separated man walking in on his maid, Monique, masturbating in his bed while calling out his name. That is all it took for Zaine to be infatuated with his french maid. After Monique has an altercation with one of her clients, she starts losing work. She becomes distraught wondering how she will pay for school and bills. That is until Zaine swoops in and offers her a deal she can’t refuse- an immensely large amount of money for her time... and sex. This book although well written, was more focused on the sex than it was on an actual story. As someone who can appreciate a good sex scene, I felt the story fell through the cracks as it came second to the sex. I would have liked more character development and plot. There were times when the story started picking up and was enjoyable but it just didn't feel complete. I can’t completely dismiss this book as the writing was good, this story just wasn’t for me.

This book was a mixed bag for me. I liked the characters, but didn't really feel connected to them until I was half-way through the book. As a result, the explicit scenes just felt blah until the half-way point. Once I reached that point, though, I began to care about Zaine and Monique and feel invested in their story. Additionally, while the trope of French maid with the man of the house is a fun and sexy one, once it flirted with prostitution, it felt a bit off. I am a fan of the author and have her at the top of my must read authors' list. Her fans will want to put this one their TBR list. Others might want to start with a different one of her books, as this novel doesn't showcase her talent.

When Zaine Cavanaugh came home early from work, he hadn’t expected to catch his maid being naughty. Sure, he had noticed she was pretty, but Zaine’s marriage had been dying a slow death, and he hadn’t given a closer look at the hired help. Until that day. That’s when his libido suddenly kicked into high gear. Monique, his sexy French maid, had only a few months left in California before leaving for Africa to teach, and when she gives him all the signs that she’s also very interested in his person, Zaine knows just what to do: she will be all his for those few weeks. Without giving away any spoilers, GOOD GIRLS LIKE IT DIRTY has a rather loaded premise, and only Carmen Falcone could navigate those traitorous waters with such ease, and make an erotic romance so sweet and satisfying. Zaine is entirely different from the type of hero who usually stars in this sort of story: he fully enjoys that Monique is an active and very willing participant in their physical relationship; he is not a dictatorial a-hole. Monique is no-nonsense, level-headed, and unapologetic about what she wants; she is very secure sexually, which came as a most welcome breath of fresh air. The dialogues are inspired, going from raunchy to clever and good-natured; I loved how naturally Zaine and Monique related to each other. It was easy to see the respect and affection developing into something more. There are a lot of sexy times, some light non-offensive BDSM, and some adult role-playing. And what a joy that no misunderstanding tarnished the whole affair! Our couple knows how to communicate, which was crucial when a startling plot twist occurred. Don’t be fool by this very pretty cover, this is hot stuff!
