Jamie and Gavin have been in a relationship for 18 months when this story starts; their first meeting is revealed to the reader as a flashback. The story is told from changing points of view - not just of the two main characters - without annoying repetitions. It's easy to follow and quite entertaining. It is nice to see the realism of the necessity of residency permits here; this served as an effective device to add further conflict for the couple, another hindrance to overcome. I got a kick out of the MacTaggarts' private mini Highland games.
