Finally the true answer to the question I've asked for years. This lays bare the sham science that has driven government recommendations and the obesity epidemic. The worst part is they've been lying to our doctors about what cause fat too. After you read this book you'll want to read "Lies My Doctor Told Me" by Dr. Ken Berry. Open your eyes while you still can. I was in my 50's when I found this book, I will never get those years back but the ones ahead will be better now.

This book exposes how almost half a century of scientific tunnel-vision has given dietary fats a mostly undeserved bad rep and has resulted in the promoting (by the authorities and medical professionals) massive carbohydrate consumption, that, as it turns out might very well be the number one thread to public health. This is a book that everyone struggling with weight or other diet related issues (high cholesterol, high blood-pleasure) should read. Its scaring and confronting to read the conclusions in this book, we are basically killing ourselves with diets that we have been educated to consider hart-healthy. Its truly sad that much of the knowledge in this book that medical professionals have had access to for decades, does not appear to be known by and thus has not been applied by general practitioners, who today give diet advice that is likely to end up killing us prematurely. While the author sometimes seems to resorts to rants, the overall content of the book is coherent, structured and convincing. After reading this book, I'm pretty much convinced that low-carb diets are far less likely to end up killing me or making me sick than the old high-carb food-pyramid.

I am on my third listen to this in the audio book format. This book has really helped me to understand how body fat is regulated and how carbohydrates fit into the overall picture. This is the first book you should read before you start reading any specific diet book. It will give you the proper information so that you will be able to evaluate any diet book from here on out. I have both lost fat AND gained fat (rather quickly) with my exercise program and now I finally understand why.
