About this ebook

The newest Earth One original graphic novel presents an all-new origin for the Emerald Warrior! Hal Jordan yearns for the thrill of discovery, but the days when astronaut and adventure were synonymous are long gone. His gig prospecting asteroids for Ferris Galactic is less than fulfilling-but at least he's not on Earth, where technology and culture have stagnated. When Jordan finds a powerful ring, he also finds a destiny to live up to. There are worlds beyond his own, unlike anything he ever imagined. But revelation comes with a price: the Green Lantern Corps has fallen, wiped out by ruthless killing machines known as Manhunters. The odds against reviving the Corps are nearly impossible...but doing the impossible is exactly what Hal Jordan was trained to do! Co-writer/artist Gabriel Hardman (Invisible Republic) and co-writer Corinna Bechko bring us a soaring original graphic novel that takes a radical new look at the mythology of Green Lantern and provides a great entry point for new readers

A very modern take on the Green Lantern mythos, but very well done. Reminded me a lot of the sci-fi genre, than the mystical aspects of the normal Green Lantern comics. Anyway a short summary: Harold (Hal) Jordan and a space mining crew working for Ferris Galactic are mining an asteroid belt for minerals to bring back to Earth. Hal and a co-worker stumble upon an old and beaten space craft on an asteroid they're mining. Disillusioned with life on Earth, Hal seeks to continue exploring as he used to back when he was a NASA astronaut... Anyway long story short he finds the Green Lantern ring from a deceased lantern (Abin Sur whose never named), and also a Manhaunter. The story broadly follows what we are accustomed to with GL origins, but is so grounded in reality, you could easily imagine this actually happening. The art style and mood is pretty dark compared to normal GL stories, reminiscent of works like Alien (without the gross chest cavity eruptions). Even the way the ring worked was more realistic then what is normally shown. I just wonder why DC doesn't try to make movies from stories like this. Probably my favourite Earth One story alongside Wonder Woman I wonder how this ties into the other Earth One series of comics? We'll have to wait and see.

1st comic/graphic novel I've read in a long time. I really enjoyed it. It offered a new spin on Green Lantern/Hal Jordan that I grew up with in the late 70's/early 80's.

Easily the best of the earth 1 graphic novels. The retelling of Hal Jordan green lantern is by far my favorite thing DC comics has done to date. Hopefully they'll use this as the structure for a green lantern film that would be awesome
