About this ebook

Phillip

Devastated at being dumped by the guy I loved, I’m struggling to put my life back together. My social worker suggested a new start in an LGBTQ-friendly town where I might make friends and meet people like myself. A new town doesn’t mean I suddenly become great with people, but Wally, an overweight Yorkie in need of love, prances into my life, like a dog version of me. Taking care of him is healing, and I want to forge a new future for us. Who needs men anyway?

Jeremy

When I nearly trip over my solitary new neighbor and his adorable dog, I’m smitten. But getting past his guarded aloofness won’t be easy. Phillip could clearly use some friends, and I’m always happy to open my circle here in my hometown of Gaynor Beach. No one should be that alone. The guy’s rescue of Wally the Yorkie makes my heart melt, and the more time I spend with the two of them, the more I find myself falling for the shy man. Will I be able to break through Phillip’s walls, or are we destined to only remain friends?

Yorkie to My Heart is a slow-burn, age-gap, opposites attract, gay romance between a shy man with a heart of gold and the gregarious, outgoing man who might just love him.

CW: mention of previous suicide attempt.

We are back in the multi author 'Friends of Gaynor Beach Animal Rescue' series. The author made this book flow and ebb in a good rythm for me. Phillip recently moved in next to Jerem yand is on a path to a heal further and create a new live with adopted Yorkie Wally. Lets put it out there, the dog has not met a person he does not like :-). The friendship to love developed over a short timespan between the neighbours. It is s quick, but Phillip is taking the reigns of his live in his hands. Whilst letting Jeremy and new friends be there for him,as he is there for them. Also points to Raphael for pointing out what was brewing between the men and calling a spade a spade at 5 years old. :-) One of my great likes in this series, meeting up with previous characters, getting to know others better and meeting new ones to appreciate. Triggers might apply for some.

Wally for the win! This book really ticked all the boxes for me, it is a lovely story, age-gap, opposites attract, slow-burn, hurt/comfort, with a great community, loving and supportive friends and families (though some characters have better found families than blood families), and adorable dogs. Phillip has had a really challenging life to date and he is given the opportunity to move to a small, supportive community as well as adopt rescue Yorkie Wally and turn his life around. He meets Jeremy, his older, has it together neighbour and things progress from there. I do think this book could easily be read as a standalone, though it includes characters from this and other series, of which I have read a few, but not all, and I easily followed along. I really do hope Gabbi Grey writes more books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved this charming slow-burn, opposites attract story with Phillip, dealing with some personal issues with help from medical professionals...and Jeremy, a next door neighbor. Philip adopts Wally, a Yorkie, and somehow tangles his leash with Jeremy who is running. Dog causing a meet-cute?? Who knows...I fell in love with these characters...Phillip's shyness and awkwardness and how Jeremy helped him gently out of his shell. Then really got to know their characters...oh my heart hurt for poor Phillip and his hurtful past...then Jeremy's cinnamon roll hero, protectively vibes over Phillip, supporting him. Also loved the "niblets" term.🥰 Sure makes me wish I could live in an awesome community like this... I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
