O ovoj e-knjizi

Renewable energy sources (RES) are one of the important instruments that human beings can use to tackle problems created by climate change. We expect a quick expansion of RES in the next few years. One important new technology is the floating photovoltaic (FPV) which is at its very beginning but which after only 10 years from its first proposal has already reached the target of 2 GWp of plants installed. This book explores the reasons for such growth and the advantages of this new technology. FPV plants are easily integrated into any human settlements and can use available fresh water as well as salt water near coastal areas. So their geographic potential is unlimited. Furthermore, their environmental impact is limited and the managing and decommissioning of plants are very cheap. The book offers a perspective on the many facets of this technology as well as an analysis of the economic aspect and of the final electricity cost which in a short time will go down to less than 50 $ per MWh. Contributions from different authors have helped in sectors such as the raft structure, the wave impact, and the environment problems. - Investigates the installation of photovoltaic systems over the water's surface - Offers theoretical and practical explanations on how to study, analyze and design photovoltaic energy systems - Considers how the use of floating photovoltaic systems can work to fulfill domestic energy demand

O autoru

Prof. Marco Rosa-Clot completed his studies at Scuola Normale with 110/110 et laude in 1966. Subsequently, he was a Researcher at Columbia University, New York, from 1968 to 1969, a Professor of quantum physics and general physics in Pisa from 1969 to 1987, a Researcher in the Theoretical Division at CERN from 1975 to 1978, a Full Professor of Nuclear Physics at Florence University from 1988 to 2009, and a Scientific Director of CRS4 (Sardinia) from 1998 to 2003. Since 2012, he has been a Scientific Director of private companies Koiné Multimedia (www.kmm.it). He is the author of more than 120 works published in international reviews, on theoretical physics, nuclear physics, econophysics, environment, and energy problems, of which 40 are on floating PV, and is the co-author of 2 books on floating PV technology.

Prof. Giuseppe Marco Tina is a Full Professor of power systems at the University of Catania (UdC), in Italy. He completed his MS (1988) and PhD (1988) in electrical engineering at the University of Catania. He has a robust industrial background in Agip Refineries and ST Microelectronics in Italy, between 1993 and 1996. Prof. Tina teaches courses mainly for the Electrical Engineering MSc and in 2012 was awarded the Diploma di Excelentia in teaching and research in power systems the from University “Stefan cel Mare, Suceava, Romania. He has been invited as a Professor at Aix-Marseille University, University Jules Verne Amiens and, Université de Corse, in France. He has been member of IEA Task 60 on PVT systems and IEA PVPS IEA Task 15. He is the author of more than 300 works published in international journals and proceedings, on power system analysis, distributed generation, PV system analysis, and modeling. Notably, Prof. Tina is a pioneer in floating PV technology, with 45 specialized publications and two co-authored books on the subject.
