Valri Western
The thing I liked most about this story was the way the author used the setting to enhance the plot! She used the woods, the rushing river, the city, the urban areas and the prison, along with other areas to take the reader into the story and feel like you were right alongside with the characters. Very few stories have had that effect on me! I really feel like I've been to Murphy, North Carolina now AND Atlanta, Georgia because of this book! The author really brought it to life, along with the heart-pounding danger of the story. Tanner is just kayaking on the river one day, minding his own business as he gets ready to start his law enforcement job in a couple weeks when he hears gun shots in the woods! He doesn't think too much of it until he hears a woman moaning so he gets out and goes to investigate. He finds a woman injured and she can't remember who she is or what her name is but she is definitely being pursued by people intent on killing her! So begins the story and it doesn't slow down from there! The woman has complete amnesia and Tanner must figure out how to help her. I got very caught up in this story and loved finding out how all the pieces fell into place. I hope you'll enjoy reading it too! I received a complimentary copy of this book but wasn't required to write a review. My opinions are my own.
