About this ebook

Holidays can be deadly.

Alexandra Vargas hasn’t spoken to JT Talon in seven years. She’s moved on from the heartbreak, and now has the baby—and life—she always wanted. But everything changes on a cold December evening when a traffic stop goes horribly wrong, and Alexandra finds herself on the run with only one possible place to hide: JT’s remote mountain cabin, the same place where, eleven years ago, she broke their engagement a week before the wedding.

JT must face his worst nightmare when he learns that not only is the love of his life a fugitive from the police, but also he must now step up and smuggle the child he never wanted to safety.

Past and present collide as JT and Alexandra struggle to find their way back to each other and heal the rift that has long separated them. But their past still threatens their future, and no one is safe until the truth behind every deception is revealed.

This gripping story expertly weaves past and present, creating an unputdownable read. The tension is palpable from the very start, as Alexandra's unexpected plight thrusts her back into JT’s world, reigniting a love that never fully extinguished. Their journey through trust, love, and redemption is beautifully told against the backdrop of their haunting past and an uncertain future. A captivating and heartwarming thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the final page.

Great story. This author is a one click for me. I have enjoyed all her books. I loved the beginning of this book, it grabs you and holds your attention. The beginning starts with a bang! The story stars JT and Alexandra and I’ve been waiting for this nook and this couple’s story. The police make a stop think Alexandra committed a crime basically and now she’s running as she also tries to figure out who’s responsible. She must turn to her friends in high places. One is her ex, TJ.

A disclaimer to begin my take on the ARC provided by Rachel Grant’s wonderful team. I haven't read all in this series so didn’t have knowledge of the characters or their past history. Not to worry, flashbacks of events sixteen years prior filled in substantial background, never felt lost. It’s a love story years in the making. There was betrayal, broken promises and heartache for both main characters. Alexandra & JT were deeply in love and had almost everything until the bride pulled out. No spoilers here, an unfathomable incident years later identified Alexandra a cold blooded killer. Circumstances, or fate, brings Alexandra directly to the man she never expected to see or need again just before Christmas. JT is a wealthy CEO, Alexandra is a brainy professor. Nothing prepared either for the sinister plot unfolding around them. The twisty case has a range of shady characters and an unexpected perpetrator with a grudge. I’m not new to this author and she’s quickly become a must-read

About the author

USA Today bestselling author Rachel Grant also writes thrillers as R.S. Grant. She worked for over a decade as a professional archaeologist and mines her experiences for storylines and settings, which are as diverse as excavating a cemetery underneath an historic art museum in San Francisco, survey and excavation of many prehistoric Native American sites in the Pacific Northwest, researching an historic concrete house in Virginia (inspiration for her debut novel, CONCRETE EVIDENCE), and mapping a seventeenth century Spanish and Dutch fort on the island of Sint Maarten in the Caribbean (which provided inspiration for the island and fort described in CRASH SITE).

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her archaeologist husband and demanding cat.
