The title is misleading making it sound like you get an in depth explanation of Japanese linguistic rules. Instead you get summarized information in each chapter and you're expected to memorize everything on the very next page. Lists of kanji without any exercises for memorizing them - so be ready to make flash cards. This isn't really a good book for beginners on its own, and isn't very good for intermediates either because of the romaji.

I bought the hardcopy but I don't know how to access the audio. Does the book comes with a cd because mine doesn't have it when I bought it.
