• Los tigres de Mompracem, también llamada Sandokán (1900) • Sandokán, el rey del mar (1906) • El Corsario Negro (1898) • La reina de los caribes (1901) Emilio Salgari1 (Verona, 21 de agosto de 1862 - Turín, 25 de abril de 1911) fue un escritor y periodista italiano. Escribió principalmente novelas de aventuras ambientadas en los más variados lugares —como Malasia, el mar de las Antillas, la selva india, el desierto y la selva de África, el oeste de Estados Unidos, las selvas australianas e incluso los mares árticos—. Creó personajes, tal vez el más conocido de ellos sea el pirata Sandokán, que alimentaron la imaginación de millones de lectores. En los países de habla hispana su obra fue particularmente popular, por lo menos hasta las décadas de 1970 y 1980.
