Ellis Peters (pseudonimo di Edith Pargeter, 1913-1995) ha ottenuto un clamoroso successo mondiale con la serie delle «Indagini di fratello Cadfael», conquistandosi il titolo di «signora del giallo medievale». In precedenza aveva pubblicato numerosi romanzi storici e aveva creato un?altra memorabile figura di investigatore, l?ispettore George Felse. Dai romanzi dedicati al famoso monaco erborista è stata tratta una fortunata serie televisiva inglese, trasmessa anche sugli schermi italiani, con l?attore Derek Jacobi nel ruolo di fratello Cadfael.
