El Dr. E. W. Kenyon (1867–1948) nació en Saratoga County, Nueva York. A los diecinueve años de edad predicó su primer sermón. Pastoreó varias iglesias en Nueva Inglaterra y fundó el Instituto Bíblico Bethel en Spencer, Massachusetts. (La escuela más adelante se convirtió en el Instituto Bíblico Providence cuando fue reubicada en Providence, Rhode Island). Kenyon sirvió como evangelista por más de veinte años.
