About this eBook

Howie and Claire are hiking on the remote trail to Eagle Falls in the mountains of New Mexico when they find the body of a 17-year-old girl, Zia McFadden, floating in the river at the foot of the falls.

It looks like suicide. But could it be murder? Zia is the granddaughter of Charlie McFadden, San Geronimo’s most famous author. When he hires Wilder & Associate to investigate Zia’s death, Howie, Jack, and Howie's daughter, Georgie, find themselves on a baffling case that takes them on a rollercoaster ride of secrets and revelations and a deadly high-altitude adventure to discover the truth of what really happened at Eagle Falls.

About the author

Born December 24, 1945, Robert Westbrook grew up in a Hollywood family of writers. His mother was the columnist Sheilah Graham, whose bestselling 1958 autobiography, "Beloved Infidel," was made into a biopic with Deborah Kerr as Sheilah and Gregory Peck as F. Scott Fitzgerald. Robert's 1995 memoir, "Intimate Lies"— republished by Speaking Volumes in 2018 —tells the story of this turbulent romance.

Robert was educated at the Harvard School in Los Angeles, the Putney School, and Columbia College. His first book, "Journey Behind the Iron Curtain," was published when he was 17, an account of a high school trip to the Soviet Union. In 1969, his coming-of-age novel, "The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart" was made into an MGM movie starring Don Johnson.

While living in Hawaii in the 1985, he began his first mystery series with "The Left-Handed Policeman" and continuing with "Nostalgia Kills" and "Lady Left." After he and his wife, Gail, moved to northern New Mexico in 1991, he began the Howard Moon Deer series with "Ghost Dancer," "Warrior Circle," "Red Moon," "Ancient Enemy," "Turquoise Lady," "Blue Moon," "Hungry Ghost," "Walking Rain," and most recently, "Eagle Falls." He is currently writing the 10th book of the series, "Yellow Moon."
