About this eBook

In this fantasy adventure, a teenage girl accused of witchcraft and sentenced to death by dragon finds an unexpected friend—and maybe something more.

Fifteen-year-old Alys is not a witch. But that doesn’t matter—the villagers think she is and have staked her out on a hillside as a sacrifice to the local dragon. It’s late, it’s cold, and it’s raining, and Alys can think of only one thing—revenge. But first she’s got to escape, and even if she does, how can one girl possibly take on an entire town alone? Then the dragon arrives—a dragon that could quite possibly be the perfect ally….

A New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age

“Wicked wit and charm . . . as well as a gutsy heroine and a sexy dragon.” —Booklist

“Alys herself is a worthy heroine, with a capricious gift for irony. A thoughtful mainstream fantasy.” —Publishers Weekly

“[A] dark, bittersweet romance.” —Kirkus Reviews

A fantastic book all around, just wish the book continued on for several hundred more pages. It's still a fantastic read, even with it only lasting one sitting. It contains wonderfully drawn characters, ones you love to hate and ones you want to fight to defend from the injustices they suffer. Engrossing and wonderful, I've read this book over seven or eight times and it's one I thoroughly enjoy. I highly recommend it, I just wish it were longer.

I have enjoyed this book since middle school when I first found it. Now I have it for myself! I just wish she wrote a second one so I could read more about the two of them!

Read this in high school several times. That was 7 years ago. I wish it would become a movie even though the book was short. It is my all-time favorite book.
