About this ebook

Meet Skulduggery Pleasant: detective, sorcerer, warrior.

Oh yeah. And dead.

Stephanie's uncle Gordon is a writer of horror fiction. But when he dies and leaves her his estate, Stephanie learns that while he may have written horror, it certainly wasn't fiction.

Pursued by evil forces intent on recovering a mysterious key, Stephanie finds help from an unusual source – the wisecracking skeleton of a dead wizard.

When all hell breaks loose, it's lucky for Skulduggery that he's already dead. Though he's about to discover that being a skeleton doesn't stop you from being tortured, if the torturer is determined enough. And if there's anything Skulduggery hates, it's torture... Will evil win the day? Will Stephanie and Skulduggery stop bickering long enough to stop it? One thing's for sure: evil won't know what's hit it.

'"With his sunglasses gone there was no denying the fact that he had no face. All he had was a skull for a head." Meet Skulduggery Pleasant: wise-cracking detective, powerful magician, sworn enemy of evil. Oh yes. And dead.' UK version of Skulduggery Pleasant Well well, what can I say? This book was just amazing. If you're interested in action books with an interesting, original story line, a strong and witty heroine, lots of humour, excellent fight scenes and good (But bad) villains then keep on reading. Stephanie Edgley is a tall, intelligent 12 year old girl. After her Uncle Gordon, bestselling author of horror/fantasy books such as And The Darkness Rained Upon Them, died Stephanie is due to inherit his estate, money and royalties when she turns 18. One night, when she is in Uncle Gordon's house alone, a super frightening bad guy smashes through the window, followed by Detective Skulduggery Pleasant who saves the day with his fire throwing magic powers. Yes- magic exists. That's when the adventure starts... That was very brief- if not, too much would be given away. The characters were interesting and certainly the whole Scepter of the Ancients legend was interesting as well. I really liked the villains as well. The only problem I had is that Stephanie is a bit of a... Mary-Sue. It does get so bad later on in the series that I actually had to put the book down and calm down a bit.I mean, she's beautiful, smart/intelligent, witty, strong, tall e.t.c. She's a direct descendant of the Ancient Ones and is the only one that can touch Black Crystals without dying! If you can stand things like this then certainly read this book but I was just warning you. Overall, if you want a good book about magic with an original and interesting story/plot line then pick up Skulduggery Pleasant today!

I buy the books for my niece, who enjoy reading them also. But i have decided to read them too - just experience what she is experiencing. We talk about the chapters we read. It is a great book for people who love mystery and action. A must read for all ages.

I recommend this book series to everyone all ages. I own all of the books in paperback and hardback. Plus I was lucky enough to get the limited edition in which there are only 1000 printed, plus got to meet the amazing author and get books signed. The books are funny, witty, with a variety of characters so you are guaranteed to love at least one of them, plus the whole series is UN-PUT-DOWNABLE!!!
