About this ebook

Everything you need to know about foraging deciduous plants (trees, shrubs and select vines) on the U.S. Gulf Coast from Texas to the Florida panhandle. Complete plant descriptions with suggested preservation and cooking methods, some basic recipes for beer, bread and even wine; multiple color photos of each plant type; USA plant distribution maps to help you zoom in on what is in your area; Appendices of what to look for on a monthly basis. It doesn't get any easier unless you are out in the woods with Darin Wilde himself.

About the author

Darin started his foraging treasure hunt at the age of six and, more than 50 years later, continues to hone his foraging skills. Says Darin, "It's a life long learning process just learning the thousands of wild edibles. Knowing what to look for is half the battle, when to look another quarter and where to look complete victory. So I am constantly exploring new areas for foraging because on top of knowing where to look finding the biggest patches is critical. For most of my favorite foraged foods I know a dozen places where they grow but only one or two where they grow in abundance so that time spent gathering and searching is negligible with respect to the huge quantity you can pluck, pick up or dig up in a short time. My books, with distribution maps, give you 90%, and that last 10%, the treasure hunt exploration, the best part, I leave to you."
