An adventure of a mail order bride and the marshall she weds. Vanessa had lost her husband over a year ago and was ready to move on with her life. She wanted to get remarried and have a family and it seemed the solution came in the form of being a mail order bride. It seemed the answer came quickly in the form of Jared, the Marshall of Virginia City. Luckily, Jared was a good upstanding man, and they were quickly attracted to each other. Sound like a fairytale? Not quite because a murderer was afoot and it seemed like her might be after Vanessa! A quick story full of intrigue, a little suspense and a villain that needs to get his due! Another great story by this talented author!!

When her life turns to ashes, Angelica takes one of the few options open to her as a widow and applies to be a mail-order bride. Her journey is tedious, but uneventful until she meets up with the obnoxious Clay Stockton, who makes the last leg of her journey stressful. Her new husband Marshall Jared Winslow is everything she could hope for in a husband, despite the fact that he is carrying his own burdens. The story is slightly suspenseful but is romantic as two more mature get to know one another and find their way in a contractual marriage. Angelica is resourceful and capable as is Jared, who has prepared a good home for his unknown bride. Although it does take time, they do begin to have feelings for each other, until the dreadful Stockton brings a blight on their lives. The romance is slow-moving in this novel, but is insightful, giving impressions of the development of new frontiers and the lifestyle in early gold rush towns. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back baring incredibly deep emotions and an intense bond, binding them to one another beautifully. The characters, dialogue, interactions and electrified atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits adding depth and diversity, transforming into genuine outstanding personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels like you can just reach out and touch it.
