About this ebook

In Crimson Death, the twenty-fifth Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, adventure by Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton, Anita is tested like never before in a showdown that will delight readers of Charlaine Harris and Anne Rice.

'Hamilton is still thrilling fans...with her amazing multifaceted characters and intricate multilayered world, a mix of erotic romance, crime-drama, and paranormal/fantasy fiction' Library Journal

Some say love is a great motivator, but hatred gets the job done, too.

My name is Anita Blake. I'm a vampire hunter and necromancer, and I'm about to learn that evil is in the eye of the beholder...

I've never seen Damian, my vampire servant, so vulnerable. He's being bombarded with violent nightmares and blood sweats, but now is the time I need him most. The ruthless vampire who created him might be losing control, allowing rogue vampires to run wild and break one of their kind's few strict taboos.

I'm joining forces with my friend Edward to stop the carnage, and Damian will be at our side, even if it means travelling to a place that couldn't be less welcoming to a vampire, an assassin and a necromancer.

Ireland.

I am a long time fan of Anita Blake and will probably still be buying the books until they stop coming. That said, I miss the days when Anita was a tough as nails big bad vampire hunter who could stop the monsters with a cold stare and her Browning loaded with silver. When I picked up one of these novels I could expect cover to cover mystery, action, suspense, horror, a dark and terrific sense of humor and just the right amount of romance. However for a long time now every book has contained >50% sex scenes/relationship finagling and recycled character issues/conversations. The storytelling I had come to love has gone from being the forefront of Anita's world to what happens between the relationship issues and sex scenes, which while fantastic and compelling ( the sex scenes obviously :P ) are not why I began reading these books.

I enjoy reading the series, but it seems like it's becoming a major soap opera. I miss how action packed the books used to be, now it's going to long descriptions about what each guy and girl she meets; the action is only short lived and near the end of the book; and the whole lovey dovey stuff feels over done. I used to view Anita as a very strong woman, who didn't go over board with having sex with every man or woman she meets.

To much therapy and over explaining. Especially the for the beginning 2 thirds. That being said I love the Anita, Nathaniel, Damien progression. Wasn't As exciting as some of the other books but I'll always be waiting for more.
