About this ebook

Her mind tells her to run. Her body begs her to stay. Her heart must make the choice.

After months spent eluding the djinn who’s been tracking her, Leila Donovan is cornered. With nowhere left to run, she braces herself to be picked off just like the rest of her companions who survived the Heat, a djinn-inflicted virus meant to wipe out mankind.

Instead, her dark-haired, night-eyed captor bestows a fiery, bone-melting kiss — and whisks her away to an opulent beach house in Malibu.

Unknown to Leila, Malik al-Mazin has been protecting her. From the Heat, from the assassins pursuing its survivors, and, most of all, from the predations of Omar al-Tariq, a sadistic djinn who revels in inflicting pain.

Once Leila comes to accept Malik as her Chosen, she will be safe. But despite their riptide-strong sexual chemistry, easing her into trust will take precious time, especially since she has the unusual ability to resist any attempt to magically influence her mind — a gift that may be her only hope when Malik is tricked into turning his back for one crucial moment…

I am a Christine Pope fan and very much enjoyed the Witches of Cleopatra Hill series but had not read any of the Djinn books. The beginning of this book was very somber and actually depressing with most of the human population on Earth wiped out by the Djinn and their choice to "cleanse" the Earth of humans. The main character, Leila Donovan, is a small time actress and has been on the run trying to survive for about 6 weeks by the time Malik al-Mazin manages to catch up to her. She is struggling to make sense of a world gone crazy, living without human contact, not known the fate of her family and then Malik drops into her life. He also struggles with what the Djinn have unleashed on the Earth, trying to locate and then keep Leila safe. That Ms Pope manages to create a romance out of this madness is amazing. She doesn't shy away from showing Leila's grief at all she has lost and how much change she is enduring, she also creates a hero who while understanding and compassionate can kick some serious ass on the "bad" Djinn. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Great start to a new series. Leila has been on the run since most of the population died from a virus that was unleashed by the Djinn in an effort to retake the planet. Malik has selected Leila as his “chosen” which has protected her, now if he can only catch her. The story moved along very nicely. I liked both characters and found their reactions realistic. This does work as a stand-alone but I’m anxious to see how the rest of the series plays out. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

It’s not often when you get a chance to read the first book of a brand new series. Technically, though, this is the first of a spin-off series from Christine Pope’s Djinn series. Maybe she decided that it was time to look at this world from a different angle. Either way, Stolen, this book of a new series, the Djinn Dominion, doesn’t disappoint. Leila Donovan has been running for two months, desperately trying to escape a Djinn who follows her everywhere. Little does she know that she has been Chosen by this Djinn, Malik Al-Mazin. Malik finally catches up to her and tells her about the new life that she will be living with him. The question is, however, whether or not she will ever trust him, even when he tells her that he’s protecting her from another Djinn? Thrust into this new world, Leila has to decide for herself whether or not to have Malik be a part of her life. As the days go by their relationship changes and develops, aided by their strong sexual attraction. Then Omar al-Tariq shows up to claim her as his prize and then Leila has to trust her wits to see if she can survive… The characters here are strong and interesting and the locale next to the Pacific Ocean is beautiful. It’s going to be exciting to see how this new series develops. I think the Djinn Dominion will make a great addition to the Djinn world.
