About this ebook

A woman trapped on a mountain attempts to survive more than one kind of monster, in a dread-inducing horror novel from the national bestselling author Christina Henry.

Mattie can't remember a time before she and William lived alone on a mountain together. She must never make him upset. But when Mattie discovers the mutilated body of a fox in the woods, she realizes that they’re not alone after all.

There’s something in the woods that wasn’t there before, something that makes strange cries in the night, something with sharp teeth and claws.

When three strangers appear on the mountaintop looking for the creature in the woods, Mattie knows their presence will anger William. Terrible things happen when William is angry.

I have seen some comments complaining about the open ending. Personally, I have no problem with an open ending and I actually prefer having some mystery left instead of having everything explained to me. But what I can't stand is stupid characters who always seem to make the wrong decisions and never fail to have a conversation when they are in immediate danger. These people just talk and talk and at the same time knowing something dangerous is out there following them. Mind boggling stupidity. Except for the annoying characters this is a bone-chilling story that rarely slows down the pace and you can feel the terror when the two evils in this book are watching you in the cold and dark mountains and you don't know where to escape.
