I was disappointed with this book. The plot is so outlandish and superficial, the characters don't seem to have a lot of redeemable qualities. Sophie seems strong and independent at first, and then not? Jax comes off as a creep at first. There's no chemistry, the mom's arch doesn't make sense with a new fiance out of the blue. Too much drama used to advance the narrative rather than fleshing out the characters. I don't know, I really wanted to like it but was utterly disappointed.

Poorly written, underdeveloped characters, superficial conversations between both main characters and the other characters in the story.... misaligned information, some scenes are just sloppily sloppily cut short, incomplete (though said scenes would have given depth to the main characters), while in other places the author describes unimportant shopping scenes to fill in pages with absolutely no follow-up or consequences for the story, the characters or their relationship. Overall, the book is a mismatch of everything: billionaire in love with a poor but generous girl who looks after a cancer I'll mother (only to ghost said mother for months after remission, and judge her for accepting marriage to some other billionaire when fully recovered), miscarriage of a desired child (with next to no psychological impact on the character), stalker with no background or relation to the story, gun-wound inflicted to Jax by said stalker to that makes the main characters miraculously work through weeks of lies and miscommunication for a HEA. Happy to not have paid for this book. I will surely not read any other books by the same author.

Spoiler? This felt like it was going somewhere, but then it took a weird turn when her mother shows up acting like a different person. Why would this rich man want to marry her as well? And random ex bf who has zero mention at any point until he appears to terrorize the main character. Ugh, really had potential until it didn't.
