Well, what can I say? The second book focus' on Shallan rather than Kaladin, which isnt as disappointing as I first thought it would be. We still get plenty of Kaladin radiant awesomeness. We learn more about the various hidden factions and their motivations. Wit is still cool. The king is still annoying. Their isn't much character development in this book. The story moves slower than I wanted at first and I began to see some typical fantasy recycling. Still loved it,

Love the books. Just wish everyone would stop calling everyone "son" every other page. Well every 5 pages or so- 241 sons in this book, 249 the previous one. Just to rub it in there's Szeth-son-son-Vallano as a character. Slightly breaks the immersion... suddenly they all have strong American accents in my head. Dunno. Maybe it's just because I'm British I notice it more.

Great but felt a bit padded with not much development in the first 1/3 of the book. Really picks up at the end but could have gotten there faster.
