About the author

Leo M.L. Nollet earned an MS (1973) and a PhD (1978) in biology at the Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium. He is an editor and associate editor of more than 50 books. He has edited for CRC Press of Taylor & Francis Group the first, second, and third editions of Food Analysis by HPLC and the Handbook of Food Analysis, 2 volume set. Dr. Nollet also edited the first, second, and third editions of the Handbook of Water Analysis and the third and fourth editions of Chromatographic Analysis of the Environment. With Fidel Toldrá, he co-edited a series of animal product-related books. Dr. Nollet has co-edited with Y. H. Hui and other colleagues several other books. With Hamir Rathore, he worked on 4 books about pesticides. In the series Food Analysis and Properties, he has edited more than 15 books. New volumes are in preparation for this series.

Showkat Rasool Mir is currently working as an associate professor at Jamia Hamdardard, New Delhi. He started his career in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, in 2002 after completing an MPharm at the same institute. He earned a PhD in 2006. He has more than 20 years of teaching experience. He teaches pharmacognosy and phytochemistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has authored three books and several book chapters. Dr. Mir has more than 15 years of experience in the field of natural product research. He has more than 80 research papers in national and international journals to his credit. His cumulative impact factor is more than 80, and his h-index is 28. He has supervised ten PhD and twenty PG scholars while four PhD and two PG scholars are currently pursuing research projects under his supervision. He has successfully completed four funded research projects. His field of expertise is the spectroscopic identification and characterization of natural products. He studies the role of plants and their products as drugs and health foods.
