Big Bad Billionaire (The Woolven Secret 1) is a werewolf romance/mystery. The mystery is the series overarching plot, while the romance is the main focus of the book (and I presume the subsequent ones). Having read her 10 Days series, I had started this expecting more of a comedy. This is not the case, though I'm not unhappy I read it, despite that. It's much more serious, though it does have a number of humorous moments. Randi is a human who wants to take down Blake and his company because she believes him/them to be the reason her father hung himself. Blake is, you guessed it, a werewolf. In this world, they are not out in the open (it's pretty much contemporary besides the magic aspect). Randi is a spitfire with some body image issues and a lot of anger. Blake is a werewolf alpha with a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and a rather uncouth image in both circles he runs in. He recognizes Randi as his mate as soon as she walks into his office and that's where the story starts. He has to find a way to woo her despite her conviction that he had a hand in her father's death. I was not a huge Randi fan. She was a bit whiny for my tastes, but setting that aside, she made a good match for Blake. I enjoyed that he didn't fight the bond but instead tried to work with it. He was very patient. Also, a bit too cocky, but I didn't expect less with a title like this. :) If you like your heroes wealthy and able to sprout fur, some heavy steam, a good dose of fighting, some brotherly love, and an enemies to lovers theme, this is a good read.

Warning: this is no syrupy type Romance The paranormals in this story are shown in all their brutal Glory with much of it not being pretty. There's violence, murder, human trafficking, corporate espionage along with paranormal politics worthy of the show "Dallas" as the two main characters fight their Basic Instincts. This is not the world of the Cullens and the Blacks, so turn away if you're looking for twinkly sparkly anything. I like that. My review copy in exchange for honest review.
