This book is designed for the beginning to intermediate bass player. It is ideal for teaching studios for the student or player wishing to pick up some new ideas. The solos are not overly difficult and do not go higher than the 5th fret. The 22 solos cover a wide range of music styles including bebop, rock, funk, and jazz. The solos will offer the bassist insight on interpreting these various contemporary styles of music. Written in notation and tablature.

About the author

Earl Gately has had extensive performing experience in such diversified areas as jazz festivals, featuring such artists as Ernie Krivda, Dennis Diblasio, Anthony Garcia, John Fedchock, etc., two full-time symphony orchestras, many combos, and big bands. Prior to his retirement in 2003, he taught at Western Illinois University, Bradley University, and Knox College. Briefly summed up, Earl has a complete range of musical experience and continues actively as a performer. His students have worked with many great artists such as Herbie Mann and Arturo Sandoval. Several are now in military service bands, and many have gone into music education.
