About this ebook

A Wolf Shifter with nothing to lose.
Three months is all Patrick O’Leary has been given to prove his value to his new pack and he was desperate. He wanted a fresh start, to get out from under his parents and over-achieving siblings in New Orleans. How he was going to start from scratch in cold, snowy, small town Montana? With no money, no job, and no prospects he is forced to take less than savory work for a small-time drug dealer. He needs to get on is feet, go straight and prove to his new pack’s Alpha that he is worth keeping around. Not to mention explore his growing attraction to the pack’s booksmart little minx. How can he do that from a basement couch, with a vicious, jealous, pack-brat determined to take him down? Was it even worth it to move across the country with nothing but the clothes on his back?

Kendra Walsh has been a good girl her whole life. She was an ideal student, graduated college, worked a full-time job, and at twenty-two was even trusted as her pack’s accountant. She liked order and respectability and she’d suffered for it. Always left out, not quite fitting in with wolves her own age, Kendra walked to the beat of her own drum. When new pack member Patrick O’Leary shows up, desperate and looking for work, she is surprised to find herself attracted to him. She is even more surprised to find he’s attracted to her too. But can she trust this new wolf to be what he says he is? Can she trust he will stay on the straight and narrow, or will the temptations of easy money, and dangerous living be too much for her to take and test the limits of their budding romance…

This first book in the Montana Howling series is more a coming of age story than a burning shifter romance. The shifters are certainly included, as is the romance, but this one focuses on Patrick and his desire to make it on his own. The book is a fairly quick read, but Patrick does a tremendous amount of growing up on those pages, and he learns some valuable lessons. We do get the promised romance, and while it isn't the love at first sight, fated mate style that I've become accustomed to with this author, some of that is there in a slow burn love story. Kendra has a good head on her shoulders and is exactly what Patrick needs in his life. They do have good chemistry, I enjoyed their friendship just as much as their romance. The book closes with an open-ended, happy for now, conclusion. There are some things left unresolved that I'm sure we'll see more of as the series progresses, and I look forward to seeing what's next for this pack and Patrick's life in Montana.

A delightful & fascinating, slow-burn wolf shifter romance & an excellent start to a new shifter series. The plot is exceptional well-written and filled with unique, individual characters, some of these characters struggle with self-esteem issues and acceptance as they continue to develop throughout the story-line. There is: wolf shifters, a male wolf shifter (Patrick) who has three months to prove his worth to the pack, a book smart female wolf shifter (Kendra), drama, intrigue, some twists & turns, threats, decisions, drugs, law enforcement, some mystery, memories, attractions, jealousy, complaints, meetings, rejection, devious plans, confrontations, anger, rumors, deceit, acceptance, responsibilities, happiness & a little steam. I really enjoyed reading this wolf shifter romance & would recommend it.

This book is a little different than this authors usually stories, but still good. It tells about a young man (Patrick) finding himself, and finding love. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
