This story had many good moments, tense moments. But also had a slow build-up that made my attention weaken until it became exciting again. I found the main characters together to have a good chemistry that you know can't survive fighting the sexual tension that builds up. The emotions that describe what it did for Lilah to find her sister dead, the impotence towards the police and their inability to protect her feel realistic. The confidence she has in Wyatt stems from his attitude towards her. It feels like he really is the only one who wants to protect her from the criminals chasing her. Wyatt, a true protector of those who need his help as a police officer. Because of his experiences in the army, he has already seen enough people die and he wants to prevent Liliah from dying under his protection. In addition, feelings of lust for her are contrary to his oath, that battle he wages against his own feelings. That comes across well in the story. All in all, a rating of 3.5 * I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
