Sir William Marshal was a great knight of his time. He was in his time many things a knight a crusader, regent to England, advisor to kings, and protector of a king.

At this point in his life he was in exile in Ireland with his family, his wife being an Irish queen. Daughter to a Norman invader Richard de Clare Strong Bow who was given Lady Marshal's mother, an Irish Princess, and a kingdom in Ireland to invade Ireland. It was disputed their right to rule, but they ignored it.

Anyway. At that time while on a ride in a country part of Ireland, he heard a strange, inviting ethereal song.
