About the author
Arthur Schnitzler (15. 5. 1862 Wien – 21. 10. 1931 ebd.) studierte ab 1879 Medizin in Wien mit anschließender Promotion und arbeitete als Arzt und Assistent seines Vaters; nach dem Tod des Vaters hatte er eine eigene Praxis. Daneben betrieb er mehr und mehr seine schriftstellerische Tätigkeit. Schnitzler ist einer der bedeutendsten Vertreter der Wiener Moderne um 1900. Das Unbewusste und Motive des Fin-de-Siècle-Lebensgefühls bestimmen seine psychologische Darstellungskunst.
