When her sister jilts the Earl of Walton, Heloise suggests he marry her instead. To save his pride and rescue Heloise from a cruel suitor, he agrees. Though they reside in the same house, they live separate lives. Until Heloise gets into a scrape, and only Walton can save her. Will they finally confess all—including their growing affection? This is such a sweet story (though it *does* have some steamy scenes). It's a brilliant study in how well-meaning people can continually misunderstand the motives of others. Heloise promises to be an obedient wife who will cause her husband no trouble—and she means it—but it's just not in her nature. She yearns for adventure, and Walton doesn't stand in her way. She pushes the bounds of polite society, too innocent to understand the possible repercussions. This well-written book is a delight to read.

About the author

Annie Burrows love of stories meant that when she was old enough to go to university, she chose English literature. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do beyond that, but one day, she began to wonder if all those daydreams that kept her mind occupied whilst carrying out mundane chores, would provide similar pleasure to other women.
