Wrll worth getting stuck in and going with her flow. it helped to have some knowledge of recent-ish Irish history..

I hated the way it rambled on and the fact characters weren't given names.

Perfect literature. This book is one of those rare ones where you become totally immersed. I felt like I was in 1970s NI. Just wonderful.

About the author

Anna Burns was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She is the author of two previous novels, No Bones and Little Constructions, and of the novella Mostly Hero. No Bones won the Winifred Holtby Memorial Prize and was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. Milkman has, to date, won the Man Booker Prize 2018, the 2019 Orwell Prize for Political Fiction, and the International Dublin Literary Award 2020, and was shortlisted for the Women's Prize and the Rathbone's Folio Prize.
