Ausgehend von der Annahme, daß der gesamte norwegische Fachwortschatz der elektronischen Datenverarbeitung und Phänomenen wie dem Internet auf ein amerikanisches Vorbild zurückgeht, wird die Terminologie anhand einer eigenen Lehnwortklassifikation systematisiert und dabei verschiedene Strategien wie Entlehnung, Wortbildung und Wortschöpfung als zentrale Prinzipien untersucht. Zum besseren Verständnis ist dem praktischen Teil ein theoretisch-historischer Abriß des Sprachkontaktes sowie der Datenverarbeitung und ihrer Terminologie vorangestellt.
