This is the 2nd book for SQL 2012 I am reading. The 1st one I have stopped: 'Beginning SQL Server 2012 Administration' as I did not like it much. Personally 'Professional Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Administration' is much better. It shows the features and explains (sometimes address for future chapters) It is very clear and consistent. Good examples (step by step) to allow check those features and understand it better. Also provides where you can find the new features (despite the interface is just slightly diferent) as it is not always where we expect or we believe it is. The upgrade section is very good and provide excellent tips on how to perform that and make this tasks easier and avoid common mistakes. This is a very good book for anyone that wants to get up to speed on the bew SQL or to get better understand of that Database Management application.

Colin Flaherty received numerous accolades for his work in mainstream journalism, and now conducts a weekly radio program with his brother in which they view politics from a left-right divide. In addition, Colin just wrote a book that is not about its seeming topic. From first glance, this book would appear to be about race riots, and while it documents them well, the real purpose of this book is to ask Americans what’s wrong with us. Why can’t we talk honestly about this situation, why can’t we talk honestly about race, and why does our media avoid mention of necessary facts? Flaherty works his magic by creating a fact pattern out of many disparate news articles, which he then compares to YouTube footage of the event, showing us what actually happened. As this is an e-book, you can follow the links yourself, which is what this book challenges you to do. He does not ever stray into racism — at all. He does not blame African-Americans, or anyone else, for this spate of black on women, homosexuals, Asians and whites. He simply points out that it is occurring and that it upsets all Americans and weakens our faith in our media, who are brushing it under the rug. Writing in clear and sometimes sarcastic prose, Flaherty speaks from his strength, which is understanding media. He links together abundant citations, all from mainstream media and many from African-American media, in order to illustrate his point.

Adam Jorgensen is the President of Pragmatic Works Consulting, a Director for the Professional Association of SQL Server (PASS), SQL Server MVP, and a well-known speaker, author, and executive mentor.

Steven Wort has been working with SQL Server since 1993. He joined Microsoft in 2000, and now works in the SQL Server Appliance Engineering Team leading the engineering work for the Microsoft Database Consolidation Appliance.

Ross LoForte is a Microsoft SQL technology expert with 20+ years of experience developing and implementing solutions for Microsoft's largest customers. He works for the Microsoft Technology Center in Chicago and is active with the Professional Association for SQL Server.

Brian Knight is the founder of Pragmatic Works and co-founder of SQLServerCentral.com and JumpstartTV.com.
