About this ebook

Recent Update: NASB Scriptures

To have found God and still to pursue Him is a paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too-easily-satisfied religious person, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux stated this holy paradox in a musical four-line poem that will be instantly understood by every worshipping soul:

We taste Thee, O Thou Living Bread,

And long to feast upon Thee still:

We drink of Thee, the Fountainhead

And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.

Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon feel the heat of their desire after God. Let A. W. Tozer’s pursuit of God spur you also into a genuine hunger and thirst to truly know God.

Very often I am in a bad rut and when I open up to christians they give me abstract clichés like "find your happiness in God" or "be satisfied in Christ", and can't seem to tell me what to do. While entirely spiritual, Towzer is also very practical and while not a step by step guide (as if such a thing were possible), this book is complete enough to get you to a place where you are well equipped to pursue God.

This book is short, but it says much about our relationship with God. It is a great read for anyone wanting to get closer to the Lord. It will show you your errors in thinking and doctrine, and it will convict you. At least, that is what it has done for me. Tozer is a very intellectual writer if you do not know. I found myself having to read things several times over to make sure I was absorbing everything. He can say much with very little writing.
