Blood on the blade. What a series this “The Horizon Cycle Series” is !! It had been a while since I had read the previous book Sparrow & the Dagger book.3. so I expected to be missing a few points, but no it all came flooding back after the first paragraph & I remembered the impact this series gave me. “Blood on the Blade” is an epic battle however more importantly it gave me the loyalty of friendship, the chip on the shoulder, a sense of belonging through want not duty, utter despair & disbelief then grief and heartache. I don’t think there is much more A.M.Yates could have packed into this next instalment of this series. I love how her writing makes you feel included, makes you feel if the world she has built really exists and how you develop an affinity with the characters and the storyline her imagination has included you in. This is an excellent addition and I actually thought it was this book was the conclusion to the end of the series until A.M. Yates twists and turns leaves you wanting and needing more, this author has become one of my favourites because of the way her fantasy writing lights me up and makes reality fall away. personally I will be waiting and watching for the next in this series and any other book in between.
