3.5 stars! I will start this review by saying that I love Brigid Kemmerer's writing style in ""Letters to the lost" series. The way of saying things, the exposition and the words are sooo different here than in those books. It took me a couple of chapters to hook me in the plot. Harper, Rhen and Grey are lovely and true to their nature and the situations they face. Even though there were a couple of moments that seemed "by the book", I don't find them irritating enough to affect my rating of the overall work. The strong point of the narrative consists in the confusion of a multitude of feelings and experiences in a short period of time. Harper and Rhen are the embodiment for that. Grey plays a more traditional role in my eyes, as an option in an alternative universe. With all this said, I cannot decide which of them are better for Harper, or even if she actually feels something real or just the adrenaline of recent events. The weak points are few and small. I say this because the plot doesn't focus on them and they just fill the backstory of our characters, but the families mentioned aren't developed much. Is if there are no bonds to speak of in Rhen's case, and, as fr Harper, she isn't as affected by a certain event as we are led to believe she will be. And, yes, the conclusion feels to perfect. I can't wait to see what Grey will do in the next installment. To sum it up, I recommend this if you're looking for a more realistic beauty and the beast retelling with a fast pace.
