About this eBook

They lived in a time of great upheaval, where ordinary men and women could become the stuff of Legend, with:
  • A heroine determined to make her mark on the world
  • A hero struggling to get by
  • The sweeping Wild West in the grip of great change
  • And a love no one could deny

Deacon Brannock has struggled his whole life to amount to something. But when he finally saves up enough to buy the saloon that'll put him on the map, he's immediately challenged by the Temperance Movement. He only wants to make an honest living, but there's no stopping the Movement's most determined firebrand: Grace Legend.

And after one look at the fierce beauty, he's not even sure he wants to.

Grace has always had her pet crusades, but she sees the Temperance Movement as the one thing that will bring her the deep sense of purpose she's been missing. Yet when the owner of the new saloon turns out to be a kind and considerate man with warm eyes and a smile that leaves her breathless, she can't help but wonder whether they could have a future together...if only they could find a way to stop being enemies long enough to become so much more.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary electronic copy of A Cowboy of Legend by Linda Broday. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book prior to publication. My opinions are my own and nothing has influenced my rating. A Cowboy of Legend is a well written western historical romance with endearing characters and an emotionally charged plot. The pacing pulled me in from the first page to the last and kept me enmeshed throughout the story. Some of the secondary characters stole my heart and added greatly to my enjoyment. Grace Legend is the heroine in this tale. She’s not the typical historical character, but that didn’t bother me in the least. She’s feisty, determined and yet sweet and feminine. I quickly fell in love with her and her genuine desire to help others. Deacon Brannock is a great hero with many of the characteristics I most enjoy. While his past could have made him cynical, he doesn’t let it bring him down. He has goals and is determined to rise above his past. The romance between Grace and Deacon touched my heart, and I truly wanted them to find their happy ending. While I don’t usually enjoy enemies to lovers romances, Ms. Broday managed to keep them from being too confrontational, so I enjoyed that aspect of the story. If you enjoy western romances with characters who will grab your heart and not let go, then you will love A Cowboy of Legend as much as I did. This novel sets the pace for another great series, and I can’t read the next one. Happy reading!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I also purchased a copy as I love supporting favorite authors. This author has a wonderful way with storytelling. I just get drawn into them right from the beginning. The old west of Broday's world just comes alive for me. I feel like I am right there in the middle of the story! Grace Legend is the oldest daughter of Houston and Lara Legend (their story is The Heart of a Texas Cowboy). I am going to go back and re-read that entire series from start to finish! Deacon Brannock is a saloon owner. If Deacon didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any. Things just go from bad to worse. Now he has the "temperance" ladies marching in front of his saloon! The groups is led by Grace and boy do the sparks fly between them. This book was filled with mystery and intrigue and so many different obstacles that make for an interest read but not overwhelming. I adored the story and look forward to more in this series. Also the story is written in a dual POV format, as well as a few other characters. Getting that glimpse into the characters' thoughts really help me to connect with them. The story is a little on the sexy side nothing over graphic or too numerous. That being said I would only highly recommend this to anyone over the age of 18. If younger, at the parent's discretion.

So much more than a simple love story! This is a longer book than usual, and it's worth every single page. Set in Fort Worth, TX in 1899, there's a familiar enemies-to-lovers romance, along with a side story of crusading for children's rights and a dash of dredging up family secrets with an examination of city vs. country life as the icing on top. All the moving parts blend seamlessly together to take the reader on an amazing ride back to a time when cowboys were still kings and women were just starting to realize the power they held to change the status quo. It's a masterfully crafted story that dives deep into the hearts of its characters and creates a realistic world that will make you long for days gone by. This is my first book by this author, but it won't be the last. Deacon and Grace have a wonderful HEA that spreads their joy to everyone around, providing happy endings for all the major characters and a genuine book hangover for the reader. If you love romances set in the Old West, they don't come any better than this. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
