1919, far northern Queensland. Fleeing from England and a violent marriage, Eva Willoughby arrives at her childhood friend’s home, a cattle station near the eerie and mysterious Black Mountain, the site of several unexplained disappearances. Although the war is over there is unease, and tensions are rising ... Not long after Eva finds employment as an assistant to Detective Sergeant Jack Shaw at the Ross Constabulary, her friend Sylvia disappears. Shaken, Eva suspects that Sylvia’s disappearance is connected to the mysterious death of a troubled young soldier. Since her new boss is too preoccupied with a covert operation, and in spite of local superstitions about Black Mountain, Eva embarks on her own dangerous investigation to uncover exactly what happened to Sylvia.

作者简介

Kylie Fitzpatrick, also known as K.T. Fitzpatrick, was born in Denmark and grew up in England, America and Australia. She taught Creative Writing at Bath Spa University before becoming an independent educator, and now develops original course materials for writers. She is the author of The Silver Thread, Tapestry and The Secret of the Ninth Stone, and has been published in eleven languages.

Rebecca Macauley is a talented and award-winning narrator. She has appeared in a variety of television programs, including the internationally popular series Neighbours and the Australian drama Blue Heelers. Her work includes the US feature film Darkness Falls and the children's television series Wicked Science. Rebecca has previously narrated Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta and Ursula Dubosarsky's Abyssinia.
