About this audiobook

I should not still be hung up on my high school girlfriend.

I’m a billionaire, with a penthouse in New York City, a private plane, and was recently crowned one of Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors.

She’s engaged to my rival. A real prick of a guy whose family is about as famous as mine. So, pictures of the happy couple are plastered everywhere, and it’s driving me insane.

The last time I spoke to her was my freshman year of college, and I never imagined I’d bump into her at a crowded restaurant in the busiest city in the world. But fate had other plans, and when I innocently suggest that the press wouldn’t bother with her wedding plans if she held it in our small Alaskan town where we grew up, I had no idea she’d take me seriously.

Now, I find myself helping her plan the wedding at my dad’s luxury resort while the town’s gossip app follows our every move, afraid that their golden boy will get his heart broken twice by the same girl.

But that’s impossible because she stole my heart when we were fifteen, and never gave it back.

I've been looking forward to Lance’s story since the previous book. This was more than I expected. It was so much more than the usual romance. The tension of the slow burn in this one was spectacular. You could feel their chemistry but also the pain of their past. The story focuses on the characters as individuals and their deep history. The two don’t reunite until late in the book. I enjoyed the forced proximity of the two planning her wedding, to his college rival, which added to the tension and really showed Logan’s character and how much his break-up with Kenzie impacted his life. This second chance romance was everything you expect when it comes to “it’s always been you”. There is no cheating and a very slow burn that kept me in a state of anticipation for what was going to happen next. I listened to the audiobook and loved the duet narration. The narrators pulled me in and brought to life all the emotions and feelings of both the characters and the story.

Both need to confront the past, come to terms with it and move on. The addition of the letters from Grandma Dori adds such a heartwarming touch and makes me smile every time her name is mentioned. She was and always will be one of my most favourite characters ever. The duet (my favourite type) narration by Aiden Snow and Emily Woo Zeller was spot on. For me they were perfect for Lance and Kenzie. They brought all the emotions, humour and romance to their performances.

This second-chance romance is a slow burn. Kenzie is engaged to Lance's rival, so it's a bumpy ride before they have a romantic reunion. And there is so much history between them, good and bad, to muddle through. It's an emotionally charged story that sucked me in and had me shipping this couple. Emily Woo Zeller was a new narrator for me, and I quite enjoyed what she brought to the table. Aiden Snow, as always, performed perfectly in telling Lance's story. I received an advanced copy.
