The Nerd Next Door: A Friends-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy

The Nerd Next Door is a cute, friends-to-lovers, contemporary romance with a veterinarian FMC and a teacher and superhero-obsessed MMC. This was a cute and entertaining story. Haley and Ted are both likable characters. Haley works as a veterinarian and stumbles into some trouble at her job. Ted truly cares for her; he is there to comfort her, but a misunderstanding gets in the way of their feelings developing romantically, which causes a rift and confusion in their friendship. This is where I understand people's dislike for the misunderstanding trope. It bothered me that Ted never asked Haley about the situation. Even if he didn't want to outright ask, he could have started a conversation around it. If you don't mind the misunderstanding trope and are looking for a lighthearted, slow-burn romance, definitely give this book a chance!
