About the author
Steve Bouser is an editor of The Pilot, a prize-winning community newspaper serving Southern Pines/Pinehurst. From 1993 to 1997, he worked with media assistance programs in Russia and other former Soviet countries. He teaches journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
