About this audiobook

“The perfect romance or beach read, with a difference: its enthusiasm and beautiful descriptions offer an unexpected attention to the complexity of not just evolving love, but evolving psyches. It's a delightful recommendation for romance readers looking for a touch more complexity from their romance reads.”

--Midwest Book Review (For Now and Forever)

THE GHOSTLY GROUNDS: MURDER AND BREAKFAST is the debut novel in a charming new cozy mystery series by bestselling author Sophie Love, author of The Inn at Sunset Harbor series, a #1 Bestseller with over 200 five-star reviews.

Marie Fortune, 39, a successful dog groomer in Boston, has had enough of catering to the wealthy and their pampered dogs. Realizing it is time to make a change, she quits and heads to a small coastal town in Maine where she remembers fond summers as a kid. Marie expects to go for a brief getaway—and is shocked to learn that her great-aunt left her an inheritance: a dilapidated, historic house high up on a hill overlooking the harbor.

Marie feels an instant connection. Although the locals tell her it would be folly, Marie decides to renovate and give it a second life as a B&B.

But there is one thing she couldn’t have planned for: the house is haunted.

Two things, actually: her great-aunt also left her a dog—and he is far from a typical dog.

When an unexpected death occurs soon thereafter, solving the crime will be more than just a matter of curiosity for Marie—her very future may depend on it.

A page-turning cozy, packed with mystery, love, hauntings, travel, pets and food—anchored around a small town and a B&B in need of renovation that will capture your heart—THE GHOSTLY GROUNDS is an un-putdownable cozy that will keep you turning pages (and laughing out loud) late into the night.

“The romance is there, but not overdosed. Kudos to the author for this amazing start of a series that promises to be very entertaining.”

An enjoyable and cosy read. I listened to this audiobook on the road and it kept me entertained from beginning to end. There were some confusion with regards to some of the characters receiving too much time, without really serving a purpose to the story. However, I believe there is a possibility that most of these characters will perhaps serve a purpose in following books of the series. Additionally, I personally found the introductory chapters too long and there were some information that received too much time and emphasis. However, it's not that bad that you won't continue reading. In the end, I still enjoyed the story and found the characters likable. It is a heartwarming mystery that I will definitely recommend to those who love a mystery, but is not looking for a too heavy read. I wasn't too fond of the narrator in the beginning, but it gets better as the story progresses (or perhaps I got used to her style).

This is an easy background listen about a murder and potentially haunted bed & breakfast. It's fine, but be prepared (as I was not!) that the book will end on a cliffhanger where things are not resolved in this current book. There isn't anything very creepy, and there isn't any romance yet. Looks like there are quite a few books ahead, but it's not quite captivating enough for me to want to continue to invest.

it's a nice book. When I started I felt bored. Then when goes on it feels like interesting. It's gives a horror feeling as well as investigation type. It started in one point and ended it other. when I started I thought it will give a horror feel. But later murder has occured and it got solved with the help of a dog. Dog has got more role while it ends.

“A very well written novel, describing the struggle of a woman (Emily) to find her true identity. The author did an amazing job with the creation of the characters and her description of the environment. The romance is there, but not overdosed. Kudos to the author for this amazing start of a series that promises to be very entertaining.”
