About this audiobook

A comprehensive resource for parents, therapists, caregivers, and educators, packed with lifelong strategies for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) management and support. Newly revised and updated, this user-friendly guide addresses autism identification, treatment, and prevention from pre-conception through adulthood. Outsmarting Autism describes more than fifty practical approaches with proven efficacy, including lifestyle modification, dietary considerations, and boosting the immune system. After health improves, focus turns to developing the sensory foundations for communication, social skills, and learning. Patricia Lemer's approach is grounded in research on multifactorial causes, or "Total Load Theory," which explains that developmental delays are caused not by one single factor, but by an overload of environmental stressors on genetically vulnerable individuals. Because every person with autism is unique, this book guides listeners to the therapies that may be right for each individual, helping to make the difference between management and healing. New research on topics like stem cells, cannabis, and dentistry is now included.

Just started reading this, and so far, it is a very comprehensive book with a wealth of information. The author doesn't hold back relevant information that is current and should be deseminated.I have a unique issue in getting SSDI for a severely autistic adult child, which needs intervention.Where it is nearly impossible to get an adult child to an evaluation I am dumb founded that one of the most predominant traits in autistic children and adults being social interaction that it is hard enough to get a severly autistic child to a medical appointment, now as an adult it is nearly impossible if at all.My concern is the irony in the specialists that boast that they make the final decision in an autistic child or adult to recieve benefits in that they fail to see what is directly in front of them. That is documented severity and social interaction which is a predominant trait. So far this book is excellent, but I wanted to add this current and ongoing hurdle as it should be beneficial to add to any revised and updated formats as I believe others have seen.Great Job from the narrator as well, very nice pleasant and articulated voice.
