When she's attacked by a demon and marked, she believes the same demon may have taken Lady Rubin. To defeat it before the mark reaches her heart and kills her, and to avoid a clash between her mothers and the village, she agrees to help Lady Rubin's son Kaspian find her. As the winter deepens and the search stretches, however, demons and spirits begin to emerge in great numbers . . . with great hunger . . . Plagued by strange creatures and malevolent foes, Brygida and Kaspian search for Lady Rubin, praying to find her alive. If they succeed, it could balm the divide between the witches and the village, as well as that between Rubin and the bloodthirsty land at its border.

A sequel to rival all sequels! I just finished this book in audio format and I’m struggling to get back to normal life! The book is absolutely enchanting, and leaves readers and listeners breathless! Firstly, the story intensifies so much in the sequel, and includes such a vast amount of magical elements and emotions including demons, witches, love, despair, good and evil. I love Brygida as a character and it was so hard to see her going through so many trials, but the story is so compelling and beautiful that I’m just dying to find out what will happen! The writing is excellent and everything you would expect from Miranda. The incredible detail put into the story creates such an incredibly complex and dynamic setting and cast of characters. I definitely will be waiting for the audiobook version of the finale!
