Please note that the story is one of the best (it's my personal favorite); this rating is for the narration and the cover that was chosen. The narrator lost me right in the beginning, when she mispronounces one of the settings of the book, Avonlea. I don't have this particular audiobook (I wouldn't waste money on it) but I would love to comment on the image used for it—that of a blonde woman with blue eyes (that appears to be AI generated). Anne of Green Gables is about a red-headed girl with freckles and her red hair is actually an important part of her identity that is commented on and talked about several times throughout the story. I don't understand why this image was created to represent Anne. It doesn't look anything like her. The publisher of this audiobook clearly never read the novel or even the summary of it. They used the same woman on the rest of the Anne audiobooks they sell as well. "Now you see why I can't be perfectly happy. Nobody could who had red hair. I don't mind the other things so much – the freckles and the green eyes and my skinniness"- Anne Shirley There are fantastic audio versions of this novel that do a wonderful job of capturing Anne's spirit. This isn't one of them.
