I mostly enjoyed this book - actually, I pulled an all-nighter because I was hooked on the last few chapters, and I enjoyed that part a lot. I'm just undecided about the graphic descriptions of certain things and the torture of a particular character. I honestly felt sick. I know this is the sign of a really good writer, but it was so horrific and then eroticised on top of that, which felt a bit... wrong? I was also massively frustrated by the protagonist throughout the majority of the middle of the novel, like even when they realised certain authorities could be trusted, they still didn't have the gumption to get some help. The ending was great. The writing was great. The sexualised violence against women side was a bit too sick and twisty for me. Not recommended bedtime reading.
