Greetings,
I am Dizzy Davidson, a seasoned professional with a dual background in engineering and accounting. My journey began in Nigeria, but for the past four years, I’ve called Ottawa, Ontario, Canada my home, having first arrived in 1978 as a bright-eyed student.
My Educational Journey: I am a proud alumnus of Carleton University, where I earned a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. My quest for knowledge didn’t stop there; I furthered my education with a Master’s in Business Administration from both Carleton and the University of Ottawa. My academic pursuits also led me to Algonquin College, where I obtained a certification in Accounting and Financial Management, and to Compuskills Institute of Technology, where I earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology.
My Professional Path: My career has been a tapestry of diverse roles, starting in 1984 as an accountant in a private real estate company. I’ve served as a financial officer within the Ontario Provincial Government and as a consultant across various private and public departments in Canada. My longest tenure was with Canada Post Corporation, where I dedicated over 18 years as a Project Manager and Business Analyst. I’ve even briefly navigated the roads as an Uber driver.
Entrepreneurial Ventures: I’ve embraced the entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating businesses in both Nigeria and Canada. For over three decades, I’ve managed an import and export business, bridging the commercial gap between the two nations.
A World Traveler: My passport pages are filled with stamps from extensive travels within Nigeria, Canada, and beyond, including visits to the USA, UK, France, Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Ghana, Benin Republic, Switzerland, UAE, Morocco, Togo, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and South Africa.
Why This Book? In a world that’s rapidly shrinking due to advancements in education, technology, and civilization, the desire to explore and settle in new countries has never been stronger. I’ve witnessed this firsthand through the inquiries I receive and the eagerness of Nigerians to experience life abroad. They seek clear guidance and advice to fulfill their aspirations. “Journey to the Maple Land” is my contribution to filling this information void, offering a valuable resource for hassle-free travel to Canada, whether for a visit or permanent residency.
Should you seek further insights, I am just a phone call, an email, or a social media message away.
Blessings on your journey, Dizzy Davidson
